What is a Shadow Work Retreat
A shadow work retreat is an immersive experience focused on exploring and integrating the parts of yourself that often go unseen or unacknowledged. Through guided reflection, group processes, and embodied practices, you’ll gain awareness of patterns, emotions, and beliefs that influence your life from beneath the surface. In a supportive, nature-based setting, this work becomes less about fixing yourself and more about understanding and accepting all parts of who you are, leading to greater clarity, authenticity, and a deeper sense of wholeness.

Meet Your Host
Ember Martineau
Born in California and raised between coasts, my early life was shaped by profound loss and upheaval, from the devastating murder-suicide of my in-laws to navigating divorce, the closure of my hard-won businesses during COVID, and the passing of my parents. For years, I outran the chaos through constant doing, but when my youngest son was diagnosed with a potentially fatal disorder, my world shifted. I finally stopped running and turned toward healing with everything I had. Immersing myself in seminars, spiritual study, and the science of the mind, I trained in yoga, meditation, Reiki, and NLP, transforming my deepest pain into a journey of profound self-realization and emotional resilience.
Today, as a certified life coach, Reiki practitioner, Kundalini Yoga teacher, and Positive Psychology graduate student, I hold space for smart, sensitive individuals who have lost themselves in caregiving, burnout, or survival. My approach is soulful yet structured—part mindset, part magic, part mentor—blending compassionate strategic tools with spiritual practices to clear the noise and rebuild self-connection. This work is my purpose and my love letter to humanity; having walked through the darkest storms, it is now my greatest honor to guide you home to yourself in a safe, sacred space.
A Message From the Host
I created Wholehearted because I believe there are parts of ourselves we learn to tuck away along the way. The emotions that felt too big. The needs we learned to minimize. The versions of ourselves that adapted, protected, performed, or became exactly who we needed to be at the time.
Shadow work gives us an opportunity to meet those parts with curiosity, compassion, and a little more understanding.
For three nights in the forests of Mt. Hood, we’ll step away from the noise of everyday life and create space to explore what lives beneath the surface through shadow work, inner-child exploration, emotional intelligence, reflection, connection, and time in nature.
And because this work needs room to breathe, Wholehearted is intentionally intimate. There will be space to wander into the forest, sit beside the Sandy River, soak in the hot tub, sweat it out in the sauna, journal by the fire, laugh over dinner, or retreat to your room and simply be.
My hope is that you leave Oregon knowing yourself more deeply, carrying greater compassion for every version of you that helped get you here, and feeling a little more wholehearted as you step into whatever comes next.
I can’t wait to welcome you to the forest.
XOXO Ember Martineau
